THE MANAGER OF TARANGA FM RELEASED BY ABDUCTORS HOW TO PUT AN END TO ABDUCTION

A law enforcement officer should not and would not hide his or her identity in effecting lawful arrest. Anybody who effects arrest and hide his or her identity is engaged in an unlawful enterprise. These actions are counterproductive. Whether they are sanctioned by a state or not they impact negatively on its image. Even if an abducted person dies, disappears for years or is silenced by fear, the actions continue to speak volumes on the governance environment in a country. Hence, no state which values its integrity would condone unlawful arrests and detentions as well as cruel and degrading treatment while under custody. Section 21 of the Constitution is very clear on this fundamental juridical principle. It states: “No person shall be subject to torture or inhuman degrading punishment or other treatment.” Anybody who exploits secrecy to abduct and subject any fellow citizen to torture and degrading treatment is no different from those who abducted the girls in Nigeria and are now indoctrinating them to choose either eternal slavery or instant death as suicide bombers. Ill treatment during captivity is the quickest way to dehumanise a person without a mission. This is what is responsible for revenge killings. Anybody could hide in secret to abduct someone, commit arson or perpetrate murder. This is not a sign of bravery or toughness. It is a sign of criminality and evil doing. Foroyaa calls on everybody who is confronted by unidentified persons claiming to be from any security outfit to alert sanders by to come to ones’ aid .Once all are alerted before any abduction takes place the practice would be reduced or eliminated.  ]]>
