THE IRONY OF GAMBIAN POLITICS

The reality however is that the vast majority of Gambians do not have access to the press. Hence most of the comments go without being known to the vast majority of people. The fact that members of the ruling party are exercising their right to reply to criticism made against the government in the private press confirms the importance of impartial media which host divergent views. The leaders in the camp of the ruling party should now join the campaign to get the state to respect and observe the constitution and open GRTS and all other state news outlet to cover divergent views and dissenting opinion. Instead of passing comments being given, political figures will debate on relevant policies and programmes which could influence the quality of life of the citizenry. All Gambians who value their sovereignty should advocate for the country to move in that direction.  ]]>
