The IEC has registered four political parties after the 2016 peaceful transfer of power. They are the Gambia Action Party, Citizen Alliance, National People’s Party, Gambia for All.

Foroyaa has been reliably informed that the registration of two other parties will soon be announced. Hence Gambia now has thirteen political parties, including NCP if it puts its house in order, and would have fifteen if the registration of the two other political parties gains fruition. In addition to the four parties mentioned above, the following parties are currently registered:

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction, Gambia Democratic Congress, Gambia Party for Democracy and Progress, Gambia Moral Congress, National Convention Party (suspended at the moment), National Reconciliation Party, People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism, People’s Progressive Party, United Democratic Party.
