The Memorandum of Understanding is clear that the Labour Department of The Gambia is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the recruitment process of Gambian workers as requested by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration of Spain.
The Government must ensure that the Labour Department is an equal opportunity recruiter of workers. This means that it must issue public notices of all available posts and establish the terms of reference for each post, including the criteria for qualification to be appointed to any post. Interviews should be conducted in a transparent, fair and just manner.
The Government should take note of all the information in social media alleging fraudulent recruitment exercise and give press conferences to clarify all matters that may question the integrity of the recruitment exercise to supply Spain with Gambian workers.
The public could rely on Foroyaa in the investigation of all allegations of fraudulent practices in order to prevent, contain or address them.
