THE ECOWAS CHAIRMAN IN THE GAMBIA

Hence when there is an attempt to change a government through the power of the gun it is expected that ECOWAS would be present to find out what had happened and counsel how such security breaches could be averted through the promotion of democratic governance and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms. We hope the visit would lead to progress in processing of the cases of those who are arrested in connection with the incident of 30th December 2014 and the release of those who are circumstantially associated with the insurgents. Detainees like Mambury Njie should also benefit from an improved environment for the protection of human rights.  ]]>
