Tension brewing as wrestling association petitioned

By Sulayman Bah Tension is beginning to brew after arena stakeholders protested againstGambia Wrestling Association the Gambia Wrestling Association calling for early congress, Foroyaa Sport can report. Some parties of the traditional sport this week pieced a letter drawing National Sports Council’s attention to the current plight of the GWA. In the letter, they seek for the NSC’s intervention claiming the Matarr Jarju led-GWA has failed to explain to delegates the association’s finances and embezzled funds. The petition alleges the wrestling body’s constitution is not validated by delegates and over the past year failed to convene a congress. GWA’s Secretary denied knowledge of the protest letter when reached by Foroyaa Sport. However the National Sports Council confirmed laying hands on the paper. NSC’s Ebou Secka told this publication:‘we have received the letter yesterday (Wednesday) but we have to sit over it and discuss’ The situation has triggered a furor in the arena coming at a time the GWA were recently giving a clean bill of health and endorsed as a recognized national sporting association by Sports Council after intense scrutiny.]]>
