Suspected Traffickers of Girl Released on Bail

A 47-year-old man and two other suspects who attempted to traffick a girl via the Banjul international airport have been released on bail, Cadet ASP Binta Njie, police spokesperson told Foroyaa on Monday.  

“They are released on bail,’’ she says, while adding the matter is still under investigation as they report on bail at Police headquarters.

Njie said the three suspects will face prosecution once the investigation is concluded.  

It was on 28th January 2024, when detectives of the Gambia Police Force rescued the 17-year-old from the trafficking suspect {47-year-old-man} at the international airport. The suspect tried to fly the girl out of the country via the airport but got busted by police during the process.  

Following his apprehension, the police made two more arrest of suspects – who were also believed to be linked in the ring (trafficking). So far, the three were booked with different related charges of trafficking.  

“The ,47-year-old man is charged with trafficking, while another man and a woman were charged with conspiracy,’’ police spokesperson earlier told this medium.
