State Charges Momodou Sabally

State prosecutors, yesterday, re instituted charges against the former Director General of the Gambia Radio and TelevisionModou Sabally SG Services [GRTS], Momodou Sabally, before Justice Otaba of the High Court in Banjul.

He did not take his plea and was given time in order to prepare and secure a legal counsel.

Sabally who was once appointed as the secretary general, head of civil servants and minister responsible for Presidential Affairs was charged with economic crime, negligect of official duties and false information in 2015 before his pardon and subsequent appointment as the managing director of Daily Observer and Director General of GRTS earlier this year.

He was on 30 October 2016 sacked, arrested and detained at the National Intelligence Agency in Banjul.

Sabally who was previously represented by lawyer Gaye is facing the same eight count charges ranging from two counts of economic crimes, three counts of abuse of office, two counts of negligence of official duty and a count of giving false information to a public officer, charges he denied.
