Stakeholders to brainstorm on Sports bill

By Sulayman Bah Affiliate members of the National Sports Council are set to brainstorm on the Sports (Amendment) Act -referred to as bill at this stage – next week with the hope that it would be endorsed and validated, Foroyaa Sport can reveal.Marchel Mendy The bill, which includes a 13-point criterion for affiliate associations to meet, regulations amongst other things, was subjected to study by the Ministry of Youth and Sports along with a select NSC committee. The reason for ensuring amendments to the act according to Sports Council is aimed at putting in place proper structures that fits and accommodates its affiliate bodies with a view to putting to bed problems dogging Gambian sports. Referred to as bill at this juncture, the new amendments will be presented to stakeholders who would make possible further recommendations at an all-stakeholders’ forum. Though the bill remains available only to stakeholders pending its validation, next week Monday at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hostel, but according to an NSC official, there’s a portion of the bill that touches on sports journalism.]]>
