By Sulayman Bah Pic: EbouSeckaMatarrJarju wrestling president National Sports Council (NSC) is pondering banning ‘Borreh Dorr’ in Gambia, Foroyaa Sport understands. The NSC -over-seers sporting associations in the country – reportedly received directives ‘from the top’ to get rid of the sport and are as a result , according to a highly placed source, set to meet stakeholders of the traditional art at the Independence Stadium this Tuesday. Borreh Dorr is a type of traditional wrestling mixed with physical blows most popular in neighbouring Senegal. A senior official at the Gambia Wrestling Federation confirmed the story. Ebou Secka at the council whose job relates with national sporting associations referred this publication to Wrestling Desk Officer Abdoulie Bojang when reached yesterday afternoon. Bojang said: “We are meeting with all stakeholders this Tuesday and everything including the rumours will be clarified.” ]]>
