Sparklyn is an upcoming star, who has been struggling in doing research, writing songs and performing for more than a decade in the Gambian entertainment arena. He is now set to work on various projects with promoters, journalists, musicians and film producers. In a recent interview with Foroyaa Art and Music, Sparklyn Black said he produced two promotional singles entitled ‘Work Away’ with Sambou Suso which was produced by Sun Land music in 2014 and the latest song ‘Strong ma’ produced by Reason Yard Records and which was officially released in February 2015. “The reason why I composed a song concerning the irregular migration is because our young African sons and daughters are dying in these perilous journeys in search of greener pastures. The Mediterranean Sea has now become the graveyard for young Africans. We as Africans need alternative measures to change the mindsets and the authorities also have a responsibility to address this issue known as the ‘Back way’ to Europe,” said ’Sparklyn Black. Sparklyn The Reggae Dancehall musician is also currently working on a film project with the Gambia based Pioneers of Trustars Film Production Company who which invited him to participate in the acting part and provide the sound track for the movie. Foroyaa Art and Music also caught up with Franklin, the director and the script writer of the movie, to share his opinion on the ‘Think Twice’ movie. Franklin, a Nigerian film producer who is based and working in the Gambia, Pioneers of Trustars Production was founded in 2011 by three Gambians namely Papis K. Jobarteh, Sulayman Jallow, Amie Sarr Bobb, Prince Ampoe Kweku, a Ghanaian national and himself from Nigeria. “We currently working on a new drama movie on issues concerning about the irregular migration and with Sparklyn to use his song on this particular migration issue as the sound track in the movie,” he said. Franklin also disclosed that the main thrust of this project is to campaign for ‘Say no to back way’. He said the movie has different segments such as interviews, acting and sensitizing the youth on this dangerous journey.
