SJAG prepare for 6th Award Ceremony

Press Statement The Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) has beganSJAG preparations for its 6th Annual Award Ceremony, in which among other things they award present and past sports personalities in recognition of their enormous contribution to sports in the country. The fundamental mission and vision of the Sports Journalist Association is to enhance and develop Sports Journalism in The Gambia to the highest level possible. According to the association’s Assistant Secretary General, Alieu Ceesay, the association has already set-up an Awards Committee, chaired by Acting President, Musa Sise with sub-committees that will be working in ensuring a ceremony with a difference, slated to take place in March, 2015. The sub-committees are Marketing and Publicity sub-committee chaired by SJAG 2nd vice president Uthman Jeng and assisted by Mama Faal; the Production sub-committee that will work on video documentaries on awardees is chaired by Abdoulie Nget and assisted by Rohey Bittaye; and the Protocol sub-committee comprises members of the female sports journalists. The award committee comprises representatives from all media houses because the executive wants to make sure that all media houses have equal representation in whatever the association is doing. According Assistant SG Ceesay said the committee has begun meeting potential institutions and individuals for them to come on board to join the sports journalists to celebrate and recognize The Gambia’s sports personalities. Renowned guests, from within and outside the country are expected to grace this year’s awards, which is now growing bigger year in, year out.
