As he intensifies preparations to present his maiden album dubbed Sutura (secret) in the beginning of 2016, the Serahule artist, SILLAH YIGOSillah Yigo, has said that he is committed to whetting the appetite of his music fans in the Gambia and abroad. Sillah Yigo, who hailed from a settlement called Basse Tumannarr in Upper River Region, started developing the spiritual feeling for cultural music during his senior secondary school days and got his first hit song, ‘Keduna’, released in 2012. This song was followed by a well-appreciated tune called ‘Debe Linho’ with lyrics talking about the kind gestures that the Gambia and its people offer as a nation.

His love for the music and commitment for development was acknowledged by the entire Serahule community in the Gambia and the international scene. This was manifested in 2014 were he was awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ by the Soninkara Music Award (SOMA). The decoration of ranks continues in this year, 2015, as his international hit song called ‘Wandi Renme’ was voted ‘Song of the Year’. These magnificent awards earns him much love and respect among the Gambian music industry and paved him the righteous route to fasten his belt in reaching the international music market after the official release of his album.

Speaking to this paper in an interview, he said the album will be released both in audio and video version, making it the first time for a Gambian artist to drop an exclusive album with a full video coverage of all the album tracts.

On his recent awards, Sillah Yigo, whose music name was conferred on him by his loving mother, said the awards did not came to him as a surprise as he has devoted a lot of time and commitment in pleasing his fans and bettering his music career. He described them as the genesis of his life-time awards as he targets mega international entertainment awards in raising the flag of not just the Serehule community but the country as a whole.

He said the production of the upcoming album is in progress and anticipates that the project will elevate his career in achieving his ultimate music goals. He expressed plans of acquiring a full music band with equipment so as to offer live and quality music to the populace and the world at large. This, he added, cannot be achieved without the assistance of stakeholders and other donors. He therefore called on them to contribute in facilitating the provision of these materials and offering other kind gestures like invitation to partake in major cultural festivals in Europe and America. For the fans, he assured them to be loyal as he is always on the course to provide them with educative songs as usual.
