SILENCE ON THE CONSTITUTION OF THE THIRD REPUBLIC IS NOT PERMISSIBLE

119

Section 207 of the Constitution mandates the media to hold the government accountable to the people.

The Coalition 2016 came with the promise to facilitate the promulgation of a constitution to replace the 1997 Constitution. A number of stakeholders meetings were held to prepare the ground for constitution building. Seven years have elapsed since 2017 and there is no end at sight to be silent on what ought to be done to make constitutional reform a reality.

There is need for a press conference to be held to inform the media all the steps the government intends to take to enable the country to hold a referendum on the text of the Constitution before the end of 2024.

Foroyaa will continue to contact the authorities to get clear information on the steps planned to promote constitutional reform to accompany all the other reform processes.
