Consumer protection is absolutely essential if we are to reduce liver cancer. It is very common to see people pealing dark spots from potatoes only to consume the rest. The naked eye cannot see the area of penetration of moulds that cause the dark spots. Hence many people are consuming mouldy food items and are making themselves vulnerable to liver cancer. The Food Safety authorities should act now to save the population from a major health hazard.
