QUESTION OF THE DAY

Should a political leader be tried for any peaceful manifestation of a politically motivated nature?

The answer to this question is in the negative.

Peaceful manifestation of any kind is a knock on the door which should be heard by any sensitive and responsive authority. If the manifestation is reasonable and justifiable in a democratic society, the cause of the manifestation should be addressed in a reasonable and justifiable manner. If the cause of the manifestation is frivolous, the perpetrator is likely to lose political weight which is counter productive in politics.

A self respecting and confident government ill always handle peaceful manifestation with tolerance and responsiveness.

Foroyaa still maintains that the incident of 14 and 16 April could be better handled by discharging and releasing those concern and open up a dialogue to investigate any outcome and prevent reoccurrence.
