Gambia’s Young Scorpions over the weekend got Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars clobbered on both legs at the 
Independence Stadium to set up a final round meeting with Morocco.
It wasn’t good reading for Sierra Leone as their campaign for a spot in Zambia 2017 came to an end, albeit abruptly.
Losing the first-leg 2-0 with Abdoulie Jallow and Ebrima Jobe’s goals doing the damage, Sierra Leone vastly needed to score similar number of goals to spark off any audacious hope of a likely come back into this tie.
For Gambia though, it was more a case of hammering the final nail to the coffin on a job they started a fortnight ago in Makene.
And, they did just that on Saturday setting up a meeting date with North African side Morocco and winning back Gambian fans’ support whose trust had been often ripped off by the senior Scorpions.
Pa Omar Babou opened the scoring to hand the hosts the lead tucking the ball past Shooting Stars’ goalkeeper Peter Sesay before striker Pa Omar Jarju, who’d been a nightmare constant to the visitors’ defence, got his final breakthrough packing the ball to the back of the net to double Gambia’s advantage.
Up next for Gambia is Morocco in May whom they must beat to qualify to the group stage.
