SET UP QUARANTINE CENTRES AT ALL THE MAIN BORDER POSTS

prevent any spread of the disease into The Gambia is a step in the right direction. In our view, the point of first contact with an Ebola patient could rather lead to a spread of the illness or its containment. This depends on the state of preparedness of health and immigration personnel at the border. Both need protective gears and should work together in close consultation. A Quarantine Centre for conducting tests should be established in all border areas where adequate protective gears are made available to health and immigration workers to conduct their monitoring. This would reduce the risk of a spread. Government should work with WHO and other development partners to pioneer such an approach so as to protect those who are the first to come into contact with visitors who are carriers of the illness.  ]]>
