The following comments made by the Minister of Lands, Regional Government and Religious Affairs need careful assessment:
“Everybody who comes [to the courts] there is a judgment against the State. Every issue, there is an injunction against the State as if the State is your enemy.”
The government or individual citizens have the right to go to court to have their cases heard. They also have the right to appeal from lower courts to higher courts.
It is therefore the duty of both government and people to preserve the separation of powers and no comment should be made that is prejudicial to the maintenance of such separation. This is the only way to maintain the democratic credentials of the country.
