According to reports, the director of electoral operations, Abdoul Aziz SARR, said that several lists of candidates for the legislative elections were rejected for various shortcomings.

These irregularities include, among others, failure to comply with parity and failure to pay the deposit, as well as other administrative errors.

He described certain errors as “substantial and material”, which could be corrected by the representatives of the lists concerned.

However, Abdoul Aziz SARR pointed out that other offences, such as “non-compliance with parity, the absence of a receipt or certificate of deposit with the Caisse de dépôt et des consignations, depositing beyond the legal deadlines or submitting an incomplete list”, are irreversible.

This selection represents a defining moment in the Senegalese political landscape, as the players prepare to fight to win the trust of voters. The rest of the process will depend on the possible appeals of the rejected candidates, which could influence the final composition of the lists. All eyes are now on the Constitutional Council, which will be responsible for deciding on the challenges in the coming hours.
