By Sulayman Bah Seedy Kinteh has emerged as one of the prospective candidates SeddyKinteh Mustapha Kebbeh Lamin Kaba Bajoproposed for nomination for the vacant GFF presidency, Foroyaa Sport can report. The Ex-GFA boss got backing from Gambia premier league club, Bakau United, who, this publication understands, filed their nomination papers yesterday. “We have signed and filed the papers to the SG,” Bala Darboe, who is part of the club board confirmed to Foroyaa Sport yesterday evening. Kinteh’s name emerged as a surprise after it was initially believed he wouldn’t throw his hat in the ring as a result of his experience in the build-up to last year polls –when he and few other aspiring candidates were turned down by a vetting committee instituted by the then Normalization Committee. Kinteh’s reign was brought to an abrupt halt barely a year after being re-elected when government dissolved the Gambia Football Association in 2012 for ‘ineffectiveness.’ Other names proposed for candidacy are Brikama United’s Buba Bojang, Lamin Bajo, Modou Musa and Serrekunda Central’s Omar Danso. Nominations closed yesterday evening. Gambia Football Federation’s Secretary General, Abass Bah, said he could not confirm the aforementioned names when reached several times on Wednesday. Criterion for the GFF presidency say candidates must be at least thirty-five years of age with a five-year football experience without being convicted of felony, that the candidate must be nominated by federation members. The current situation came about after FIFA ousted the GFF executive ‘for lacking stakeholders’ trust and confidence’ replacing them with a five-member Normalisation Committee (NC) tasked to preside over the elections billed for September 20th. In a separate but football related development, Gambia’s two-year international football ban has been ‘partially’ lifted according to the NC chairman Alagie Sillah which allows the country to partake in international test matches. Already there is one game being lined up which, if all goes as planned, could see the Scorpions play in October.]]>
