He was subsequently held without trial for seven days at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) headquarters in Banjul as from Friday, 22nd July 2016.

He was replaced by  Mr Dodou Bammy Jagne but on Thursday, 18 August, 2016 Mr. Jagne was relieved of his position as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs and redeployed to the portfolio of Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure. Mr Samba was then reappointed as the Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, a position he held till his removal yesterday.
