Veteran Scorpions’ attacker Ibou Sawaneh has opened up on what triggered his ‘failed’ move to join Belgian premier league side Cercle Brugge.

The dribbling winger was on the cusp of putting the final touches to a transfer to Cercle Brugge before start of last season.

It comes after another proposed lucrative deal to Turkey hit the buffers just at a time his contract with boyhood club Waasaland-Beveren was on the brink of timing out.

Media reports soon began making the rounds that the Gambia international couldn’t convince Brugge Coaches that he’s worth the go-for while others claimed Sawaneh failed a trial.

The marksman has however lifted the lid on the much drawn out saga that did earned some front page consideration across tabloid in Brussels.

‘It actually did not go wrong (with the plan to join Brugge). (Is jus that) I had a better deal with (second tier side) KSV Roeselare. Therefore I decided to go for them,’ he reveals to Voor Door Fans , saying ‘I also had better negotiations with Roeselare than with Cercle. So, I wasted little time to join them’

The 30-year-old went on to rake up twenty-six appearances for Roeselare including another six in the UEFA Europa League play-offs.
