Gambia international Ibou Sawaneh has bemoaned a referee’s 
decision to overlook a penalty he believes he deserved in his club’s latest defeat.
Sawaneh and WaaslandBeveren were condemned to their fourth lost of the season in eight matches in the Belgian Pro League with second-half goals fromTsnadard Liege’s Jorge Tiexeira and M’Pokudoing doing the damage.
In a game marred by six bookings, the Gambian appeared to be kicked from behind and roughed up in the box in the heat of the moment as he matched toward goal but the referee waived play on. The nncident left the Scorpion seething and confronted the referee for snubbing his penalty cries.
He told Het in post match comments, “I try to draw the line but today it was little frustrating. It was one hundred percent penalty and therefore a red card. If he hadn’t kicked me I would have scored. First he kicked my foot and then pushed me from the back.”
He added, still bitter: “I asked the referee why he had not whistled but he told me that he was too far and that there was another ref in the field. He referred to his assistant whom he said noticed nothing. It’s frustrating.”
Sawaneh who joined Beveren on a three-year contract, is yet to score this season as his club sits eight-placed in the sixteen team top flight standings on eight points.]]>
