The community of Sanyang on the 26th July 2024 received 300 solar street lights worth one million and two hundred thousand Dalasi (D1,200,000)  from GACH Mining Company. The donation was part of the Company’s cooperate social responsibility to the community.

Boto Bojang, the ward Councilor, explained that his office had written to the mining company requesting solar street lights for the areas of Sanyang village that do not have electricity. The idea is to deter thievery and other criminal activities in addition to beautifying the community. He praised the management of the sand mining company for coming to their aid. He stated that GACH has been supporting the community in different ways, adding that the support is overwhelming. He said GACH built mosques, a police station, health facilities, perimeter fences of women gardens, football fields, and donated solar street lights.

Saikou Kombeh Bojang, a member of the Council of Elders, said mining has been taking place in Sanyang in the past, but those companies were not providing support to the community. He added that GACH has been so supportive to the community.

Amadou Manneh, GACH Mining Site Manager buttressed the bilateral relations between the company and the Sanyang community. He promised that his company will continue to make changes in the lives of the communities they mine because they feel part of those communities.

Yusupha Jassey, a resident said Sanyang has never benefitted from a mining company before the coming of GACH.

“We only benefited from sand mining when GACH Mining Company Limited started mining in our communities. We had numerous benefits ranging from schools, solar street lights, mosque, police station, and rehabilitation of the ward health center and they had also sponsored youth football tournaments, and provided scholarships to our children. I can’t name all that we benefited from and continue to benefit from GACH,” he said.
