Sanneh revels in UK marathon despite FASTING

Sanneh observes Ramadan – a sacred month that comes once annually – which involves self-deprivation of water or food for fourteen hours. Donning a light green vest to take to the tracks and faced with a daunting reality of having to abstain from sipping any fluid, the emerging Gambian long distance runner was not deterred and stepped up reaching his crescendo in the process, as he finished fourth in the 10km run. Clocking 33.11, Lamin’s timing couldn’t have been any better considering his conditions during the race breaking Gambia’s record in the 10km race. Speaking in the aftermath of the event, Sanneh expressed delight being able to take part in the Yorkshire big event – a dream made possible after he reveled in the Bajana international road run. His participation in the UK marathon was marred by a change in departure schedule having to wait for female Gambian counterpart Mariama T. Jallow who was out in an international competition.]]>
