Fast-rising defender Bubacarr Sanneh is a key nut in Danish Premier league club AC Horsens defence. If ever aBubacarr Sanneh field marshal were to be picked, of course on merit, this budding talent would undoubtedly get the nod for being a standout in Horsens defence.

It takes more than an individual to seal up a defence and Bubacarr Sanneh is left stranded in a side who’ve had a severe fluctuation of results. The consequence is a streak of six draws and wins with eight loses. It might not be bad start for the newcomers in the league having made the jump from the second tier the previous season as they sit joint seventh in the 14-team standings.

But what is worrying is the rate at which they concede goals. The Yellow and Blacks have been shipped nine goals the last three games, and, with eight out of the fourteen outfits in the league to battle in a relegation play-off, there is serious cause for concern amid fears of a return to the second division.

Had Horsens stuck with some of their standouts in their promotion ruin-in last campaign, this year, one would imagine them staying at least within the top-five but as matters are, the club is left with too thin a squad with a tiny season budget have doing them little aid.

However Bubacarr remains buoyed that priority of the club maintaining its SuperLiga status won’t be lost.

In an interview with Foroyaa Sport from Denmark, the 22-year-old insists the worst won’t happen.

Taking us through a tour of the club’s recent failings, Sanneh said of the problem: ‘I think our problem for this season has been our squad size and how thin it is. You know we are just coming up to the Super League after some years in League One. So, to maintain some big number of players would be a problem because of the budget of the club but even with that, our main aim is to stay and fight for a position in the league for next season’

‘It’s true we have not been doing well all these past matches but I think the coming of the winter break is timely for us. I hope we will do well and win our upcoming match this weekend and at least prepare better for the second round after the break because I really want the team to stay in the top division for several years to come’

Fires of optimism rage in the lad’s comments but Horsens has only thirteen games to prove their stake in the division. Buba though still brims with confidence.

“Yes! I am confident! I believe in our qualities and know that if all of us maintain our standard and up our game, we can escape the relegation play-offs and may be finish somewhere mid-table. Like I said, our aim is to maintain ourselves in the league and I’m positive we will achieve that.’
