SANDU CHIEF REMOVED, REPLACED BY AN ACTING CHIEF

Jun Bah, the District Chief of Sandu Former Sandu Chief, Jun Bahand head chief of the Upper River Region (URR), has been removed from the chieftaincy on Wednesday, 18 June 2014, barely four days after the district chiefs around the country held a conference in Mansakonko, Lower River Region. He is said to be replaced in an acting capacity by Alhaji Basiru Bah, aka Lorry Bah, a senior court official for Sandu. However, no reasons were given as to why he was removed from the chieftaincy. When contacted by this reporter, Lorry Bah, the acting chief, confirmed the information and said he has accepted the appointment. He said he will do his utmost best to serve in this chieftaincy position. Mr. Omar Sompo Ceesay, the Governor of URR also confirmed the information. He said he is urging the acting chief to unite the people of Sandu and perform his duty without fear or favour and also called on the people of Sandu to support the new chief.
