The judgment on the trial of Mr. Momodou Sabally erstwhile Minister for Presidential Affairs and Secretary General and head of 
civil service before Justice Emmanuel Amadi was deferred yesterday 22nd September, 2015, as the judge did not sit.
The defendant, his family members and the defence lawyer were seen leaving the court premises. When the lawyer was approached he told reporters that the judgment was deferred to next week Tuesday 29th September. When asked why it was deferred, he said the judge did not sit.
The trial which lasted for more than 11 months saw the prosecution led by the Director of Public Prosecutions called ten witnesses and tendered several exhibits, including the letter written by the accused to the president, whilst the accused testified as a lone witness in his defence.
The former secretary general and head of Civil Service and minister of Presidential Affairs was indicted on eight counts of criminal charges ranging from two counts of ‘Economic Crimes’, three counts of ‘Abuse of Office’, two counts of ‘Neglect of Official Duty’ and a single count of ‘Giving False Information to a Public Officer’ to which he denied culpability.
At the closure of the defence’s case, both parties filed and adopted written addresses to the court. Consequently, the matter was set for judgment.
