Mr. Adama Barrow, the standard bearer of Coalition 2016 promised the rural community of Sami Pachonki a new road as part of
the transitional government’s top priority project.
He made this remark on Saturday, 20th November, 2016.
“I promise you that our first road construction project will be Sami road,” said Barrow.
The independent candidate also assured that his tenure will witness an economy recovery and quick development process of the country. He said fuel prices will be reduced and fares will come down to ease transportation.
Sidia Jatta said elections are meant to strengthen the power of citizens and must be utilized. He said 46 years ago, the Gambia turned its back to monarchism and therefore people must understand that power belongs to them.
Mr. Jatta said the country needs change which is why they have come together from different parties to unite and remove Jammeh’s government which according to them is a burden on Gambian people. He challenged the people of Sami to utilize the opportunity and vote for the coalition.
Dembo Bojang, co-chair of the coalition said people must take the responsibility to vote instead of preoccupying their minds on whether the incumbent will accept defeat and leave. He said the most important thing is for them to vote.
Meanwhile, Mr. Samba Jallow, the minority leader in the national assembly while addressing the Panchang rally on Saturday said the coalition is formed in the interest of the country. He accused the incumbent of misusing public funds and therefore should be gotten rid of. He said declaring the Gambia an Islamic state is a joke since the Imams are being detained and have disappeared for over one year.
Dr, Isatou Touray also speaking at Panchang said it is scary and a pity to see the Gambia sinking while other countries are developing by day due to poor governance. She said there is no meaningful development for young people which causes high influx into Europe through perilous journey.
Mr. Halifa Sallah discussing the economy said the transitional government has the capability and capacity to reshape the failing economy.
“Our country is sinking and it needs immediate change of government,” he concluded.
