REPARATION IS TAKING TOO LONG

It is a dictum that justice delayed is justice denied. This dictum is more applicable in the case of victims, who are tortured, maimed or are the sons and daughters of those victims.

Speedy justice is necessary for healing. Slow justice only deepens wounds, which is deemed as justice denied. What the state should have done is to pay a first installment of compensation and allow a commission to review the cases of those who deem the compensation to be inadequate. Attempts should therefore be made to shorten the bureaucracy and ensure that the compensation required is granted to the victims.
