Gambian champions Real de Banjul have demanded points from CAF
following Barrack Young Controllers’ (BYC) failure to secure a venue
for the mandatory second-leg.
Liberian club BYC have played out a one-all first-leg in Banjul andwere expected to make arrangement for the second-leg after CAF
suspended them from playing in Monrovia for fear of Ebola spread.
They were advised by the Orange CL Organising Committee to look for a
neutral venue and Mali was identified before the Bamako leadership
decided to block BYC from jetting in the eleventh hour leading to the
cancelation of the second-leg billed for last week Saturday.
CAF is now handling the issue and are yet to make any public comment
over the case. However, in the face of this dilemma, Real has asked to
be given the points on grounds BYC failed to secure an alternative venue.
The Banjul-based side amongst other things bemoaned the exorbitant
expenses – incurring a fee in excess of 20,000 USD in camping its
players –and said they can’t afford any more spending.]]>
