Real booted out of CAF CL

By Sulayman Bah Gambian Champions Real de Banjul have been booted out of the CAF Brikama ensured RealChampions League after losing to ES Setif in Algeria. Two unanswered goals, one in each half, were enough to do the damage on the visiting Gambian side on a final 3-1 aggregate score. Setif, who are also the defending champions of the CAF club coveted title, forced a draw in Banjul in the first-leg of the first round qualifier before completing up the task last week Friday. Real had a number of chances but it was the hosts who stole the headlines thwarting any hopes nurtured by the visitors of triggering an upset. This is the second time Real are being kicked out of the competition in the qualifier round after losing to the Moroccan side, FUS de Rabat, two years ago. RDB, Gambia’s only representatives in the championship following Banjul United’s withdrawal from the Confederation Cup for reason of finance, now have to focus on defending the GFF league title they scooped last season. The All Whites sit one point behind Gamtel who top the standings on twenty-four points.    ]]>
