The Gambians who are interested in going to Spain should be informed that the current recruitment drive is meant to be a pilot project. Consequently, only fifty (50) people are to be finally recruited as part of the pilot project.
In a meeting in Banjul Halifa Sallah has requested the government to drop the possession of a passport as condition to apply for employment in Spain. He has made it clear that if ten thousand young people apply for recruitment with the current requirements in the application form a sum of thirty million dalasi will be paid into government coffers as fees for passport. According to them, all those people will not be recruited. He therefore argued that the government should instead set up a scheme where those recruited would have the privilege to be issued with passport without delay in order to be able to travel to Spain. According to him, this will save many young people from putting their money into government coffers without being recruited.
