Principal Suspect in Alleged Murder Of Ousman Jarju Charged with Murder

Following an alleged stabbing incident which resulted in the death of one Ousman Jarju of Jalambang, the Police have arrested the principal suspect and his partners in crime. The principal suspect has since been charged with murder by the police.

The Gambia Police Force in their Facebook timeline indicated that Personnel of the Tourism Security Unit and Serekunda Taskforce conducted robust patrols around the vicinities of Palma Rima Beach and Bakoteh leading to the arrest of Hadim Jeng of Bakoteh, 18 years old, as the principal suspect in the murder of Ousman Jarju.

“Muhammed Njie, who is equally alleged to have participated in the attack together with other suspects, were equally nabbed and are currently helping police with their investigations,” the police said.

In the same vein, police investigators have recovered the (knife) and other evidential materials allegedly used by the suspects in the commission of the crime.

The police said the suspects are charged with murder contrary to section 187 of the Criminal Code Vol III Laws of The Gambia 2009 and will be arraigned before a court as soon as possible.

Readers could recall that a stabbing incident took place on Wednesday 8th September 2021, around Palma Rima Beach resulting in the tragic death of a 27-year-old man by the name Ousman Jarju of Jalambang Village.

The suspects allegedly fled the scene after the cowardly attack and stabbing of the victim in an attempt to rob him of his properties.

“With support from some genuine individuals, police investigators recovered a bag from a street at Bakoteh containing a Gambian passport, Gambian national ID card, vaccination card, and GT Bank ATM card, all bearing the name of the deceased. Further probes led to the recovery of an envelope containing a notebook, air tickets and boarding pass at the Bakoteh football field, equally bearing the deceased’s name. It is highly probable that the suspects maybe residing within the Bakoteh area and surroundings,” the police said.
