President Yahya Jammeh has relieved three ministers of their cabinet posts with immediate effect, according to a press release from state house announced on GRTS evening television news bulletin yesterday, 27 January, 2016.
The three affected cabinet ministers are Mr. Lamin Nyabally, formerly of fisheries, Dr. Edward Saja Sanneh, formerly of Energy and Mrs. Yam Bamba Njie Keita, formerly of Presidential Affairs.
The press release further states that “…..the President in the same vein has decided to appoint Mrs. Yam Bamba Njie Keita as Deputy Secretary General with immediate effect.”
It added that “the general public is duly informed that the ministries of energy and petroleum have been merged as the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
“The Department of Forestry, the release states is now under the purview of the Office of the President, whereas the Ministry of Fisheries is integrated into the Ministry of the Environment, Water Resources, Parks and Wildlife and Climate Change.
“So the portfolio now called the Ministry of Fisheries is integrated into the Ministry of the Environment, Water Resources, Parks and Wildlife and Climate Change, the release ends.”
