President Jammeh Relieves Trade Minister

The President of the Gambia, Yahya Jammeh has according to a press Yaya Jammehrelease broadcast yesterday evening June 12th, removed his Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment from office with immediate effect.

However, no reasons are advanced as to the motive of his removal from office.

In the same vein, the President has directed that the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Kebba S Touray oversee the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment.

A former UNDP economic analyst, Mr Kolley had previously served as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs from 2007 to 2012. He then served briefly as Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters for a period of three months in 2012. From April 2012 to July 2013, he served as Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs.

Mr Kolley has been serving in the position of Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment for a period of almost one year.
