President Barrow Extends Condolences to US on Passing of Former President Jimmy Carter

President Adama Barrow yesterday Thursday, visited the residence of the United States Ambassador in Fajara, to extend his condolence on the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter.

On behalf of the Gambian people and his Government, President Barrow extended sympathy to the Carter family, the American Government, and the world, for the loss of Mr. Jimmy Carter. President Barrow referred to Carter as a great president and a great human being. 

“I think what he has achieved after his presidency was great, and he spent his entire life supporting humanity. He was very social and I think this is an encouragement for all presidents that there is life after the presidency,” President Barrow said. He expressed his profound sadness, adding that Carter has achieved a lot that they should remember him for. 

Jimmy Carter, the longest-living former American President in history, died Sunday afternoon at his residence in Plains, Georgia at the age of 100 years. He was the 39th president of the United States of America from 1977 to 1981.
