President Barrow Appoints 3 High Court Judges

The office of the Chief Justice, in a press release dated 26th August 2024, has indicated that His Excellency President Adama Barrow has appointed three new Judges for the High Court of The Gambia.  

The press release reads His Lordship the Hon. Chief Justice is pleased to announce that His Excellency the President of the Republic Adama Barrow, acting under section 138(2) of the Constitution and according to the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has approved the appointment of three Gambians as Judges of the High Court of the Gambia. 

They are Mr. Omar Cham, currently the Master of the High Court, Ms. Yakarr H. Cox, currently a Principal State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice and Mr. Omar Suso, currently a senior Legal Officer and Deputy Executive Secretary at the National Agency for Legal Aid (NALA). 

The new appointments are expected to take effect in October 2024 and are envisaged to strengthen the capacity of the High Court. 

“The Judiciary looks forward to the assumption of office of the new Judges and wishes them successful tenure,” it says.
