The leader of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Omar A. Jallow, commonly called OJ, responding to the coalition demand OJmade by some young people in the country, said his party will be putting up a proposal concerning alliance by mid-September.

However, OJ revealed that the PPP is not putting up a candidate for the 1st December 2016 presidential election but will be taking part in the process of uniting the opposition parties.

The former agriculture minister during the PPP regime in the first republic, who is currently in the United States, made this known in an email in response to the question that was earlier sent to him by this reporter concerning the position of his party regarding opposition alliance ahead of the poll in less than four months from now and how to go about this if they support it.

“As you are aware that the PPP had from 2001 advocated for opposition alliance or coalition and we still believe that this is the only way to defeat Jammeh. The party had a proposal for unity in 2001, 2006 and in 2011 and we are going to put up a proposal by mid-September,” said OJ.
