Ports Beef up Squad Ahead of CAF CL

Gambia Ports Authority have been bolstered by the arrival of new signings as the league champions beef up matarr-nyanahead of start of the Orange Caf Champions League.

Ports qualified for the continental cup after clinching the Gambia Football Federation domestic premier league title. The feat makes them eligible to partake in the preliminary first round of the Caf club championship due in February.

The Ferry Boys have gotten down to work with the league to resume but with a particular focus on the Champions League as gaffer Alagie Sarr strengthens his roster with the acquisition of three players.

The players are namely Lamin Sonko, Matarr Nyang and Alagie Kebba Ceesay. Sonko, on loan from Interior and who’d starred for the Gambia U-20s recently, will add depth to the side with the experience of Matarr Nyan also a major plus in midfield.

Sharpening up ahead of the kill, Ports were recently in Senegal where they tussled with Casa Sport and talking with regards to his team’s preparations, Sarr who won Ports their first title last term, said: ‘The management have agreed for us to go to the CAF Champions League. We are preparing for the Super Cup, League and Champions League’

‘We have new players in the team. The Caf Champions League begins in February. We played Casa Sport and it was part of our preparation for the season,’ Sarr tells Foroyaa Sport.
