The Prosecution Unit of The Gambia Police Force has secured the conviction of Karamo Ceesay, a United Democratic Party Councilor for Tallinding South, on two criminal charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and wilful property damage.
The Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, said the case was heard before His Worship, N. Jallow Esq., at the Bundung Magistrates Court, with the prosecution led by Inspector B. Jarju.
‘‘After evaluating the evidence, the court found Karamo Ceesay guilty on both counts and sentenced him as follows:
On Count 1 (Assault): A fine of D10,000 and D50,000 compensation, or in default, 2 years of imprisonment and on Count 2 (Wilful Damage): A fine of D10,000 and D25,000 compensation, or in default, 2 years of imprisonment. Both sentences are to run concurrently,” he said.
