Police Probe Deputy National Organising Secretary of UDP

The Gambia Police Force is investigating a case involving the National Organizing Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Ebrima Dibba over purported comments he made against President Adama Barrow, Foroyaa confirmed the report.
“The police can confirm that Ebrima Dibba is currently under investigation. Also, in police custody is Bakary Sillah. Details regarding their arrest and the ongoing investigation will be communicated in due time,” the police said in a statement on Friday.
According to one local media report, Ebrima Dibba has been charged with ‘seditious intention’.
However, the Gambia Police Force says they cannot confirm the said charges but intend to clear the air today in regards to Ebrima Dibba’s and Bakary Sillah’s arrest and charges.
Speaking to Foroyaa, Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, the Spokesperson of Gambia Police force, said they will shed light on the charges proffered against the United Democratic Party duo.
‘Actually at the moment, I cannot give more detail on that. Whatever the case maybe, hopefully tomorrow we will do that,’ he said.
Ebrima Dibba and Bakary Sillah were arrested by the Gambia Police Forces last Thursday upon their arrival at the Banjul International Airport.
Ebrima Dibba is the United Democracy Party deputy national organizing secretary.
According to media reports, Dibba’s arrest and detention was in relation to a statement he made in reference to President Barrow.
