Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gambia Police Force (GPF) Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo has said his institution is investigating a matter which was reported to the Police involving a private aircraft at Banjul International Airport with registration number PR-OOF.
The alleged crime is suspected to have occurred on July 8, 2025.
According to initial reports, Sisawo said the aircraft was discovered with evidence suggesting possible unauthorised access and tampering. Items reported missing include tools, beverages, and electronic equipment used for flight operations.
“The Crime Scene Investigation Unit visited the scene, conducted forensic examinations, and documented the aircraft thoroughly. Statements were obtained from the flight crew and other parties, and CCTV footage covering the period of relevance was reviewed to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.
Sisawo further explained that preliminary findings indicate that no signs of forced entry were observed and that only the pilot’s door was confirmed open at the time. Investigators are reviewing additional surveillance material and assessing all accounts provided.
He finally informs the public that the Police acknowledged the seriousness of this matter and assures the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine all relevant facts.
