The Gambia Police Force is investigating Green Power Investment, an alleged scamming enterprise, after numerous customers reported difficulties in withdrawing their invested funds.

The police said Mambanyick Faye – the Managing Director, Dodou Tambedou – the assistant, and the major shareholder – Chen Biao, a Chinese man are cooperating with investigators to uncover the details of the operation.

The police statement indicated that it was discovered that while the company operated under the name Green Power Investment, it was officially registered as Tambedou and Chen Enterprise.

The investigation further complicated when Chen Biao revealed during questioning that he had registered the company at the request of his partner, originally for a business purportedly selling solar materials, which later turned out to be a front for the alleged scam.

Preliminary findings have revealed transactions totaling approximately Three Million Dalasi (D3,000,000) received from the alleged defrauded customers.

“Efforts are ongoing to ascertain the full scope of the fraud. Over a hundred additional victims from Basse and sixty from Jarra Soma have yet to be accounted for, with more expected to come forward,” the police statement revealed.

The police urge the public to exercise caution in business dealings and to provide any relevant information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
