The Office of the IGP has urged the general public to respect diversity, be tolerant and allow people to manifest their support to the political party/parties of their choice.
The Police PRO made these remarks while informing Foroyaa that supporters of Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) and United Democratic Party (UDP) have been arrested and detained.
The spokesperson of the police, Inspector Foday Conta disclosed that three APRC supporters namely: Isatou Sambou, Maimuna Colley and Awa Jarju, all residing in Tallinding have been arrested based on allegation that they attacked a group of UDP supporters by stoning from a compound on Thursday 30 March 2017, around late hours.
“The group was heading to a campaign rally of UDP candidate, Fatoumata Jawara. The Incident has resulted to some UDP supporters sustaining injuries,” he said.
PRO Conta added that the matter was reported at Tallinding police station and the victims were escorted to the Hospital where they received medical treatment. “A case file was opened after the arrest of three APRC and three UDP supporters namely Fatoumata Darboe, Kaddy Bajo and Kaddy Ceesay, who are currently helping the police in their investigation,” he told Foroyaa.
