The Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, said the police have arrested an alleged child kidnapper.
According to the Police statement, this case is associated with an ongoing investigation into the alleged kidnapping of an 11 year old from Dippa Kunda, and that the case has attracted widespread public concern and media attention following his disappearance.
“Following sustained surveillance and operational efforts, a suspect was arrested in connection with the case in the morning of Saturday 29th March 2025. The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting investigators in the ongoing inquiry,” PRO Sisawo stated. He said preliminary findings suggest that the child was unlawfully taken and held for a period of time, and upon recovery, the child was taken to the hospital for medical examination, which confirmed that he was not physically harmed and had no medical issues. He said the child is in safe condition and has since been reunited with his family.
“The Gambia Police Force acknowledges the critical role played by the immediate family in the successful location and rescue of the child. Their vigilance, persistence and cooperation with law enforcement officers were instrumental in resolving this case. Without their timely actions and continued support, this outcome may not have been possible,” Police PRO Sisawo said.
