A surfeit of clubs in overseas are keeping tabs on Gambia handball players with a view to signing them, Foroyaa Sport can reveal.
Gambian players have become sought-after gems wowing in the recently held handball Zone II in Senegal with a plethora of clubs now lurking and battling to secure their signatures.
Confirming news of sudden abroad-based clubs interests Haruna Cham Secretary General of the country’s handball association told Foroyaa Sport yesterday morning: ‘They (clubs) want to sign them. A good number of them (the players) are already attracting interest. Up to seven other players are only waiting for a final move from us; recommendation and all that. Ousman Camara and Sheikh Seck are one of the seven players we are working on helping them realise their dreams of playing abroad,’
Already Modou Jobe, another Gambian handball star has sealed a move to Moroccan club Raja Casblanca’s handball outfit.Jobe persuaded the North Africa side of his abilities while on an outing for Senegalese Handball side Jaaraf.
‘He was with Lion Hearts of Bakau before moving to Senegal. And recently featured for us in the zone II,’ Cham says.
