By Sulayman Bah Gambian boxer Omar Jatta over the weekend lost in a revenge match to Turgay Uzun, the man he battered to the World GBC middleweight belt. The 36-year-old trounced Turkish-bon Uzun early this year to clinch the GBC belt setting a record as the first Gambian to claim the belt. However four months after that cracking final, the Latri-kunda German-born boxing ace decided to accept Turgay’s revenge match proposal – a bout eventually held last Saturday night – with the Gambian on the losing end on points. Thanking his fans after biting the dust, the ring sensation who’d wowed boxing lovers in Austria for the past decade, consoled his followers writing: ‘I wanna thank you all for the massive support and the good luck wishes! I unfortunately lost the fight by points. He was the better Man.’ Jatta was in Gambia on a breather not longer ago and promised to start off a boxing camp as a way of reviving boxing in Gambia. Be on the lookout for our detailed interview with Omar this week.]]>
