Omar Koroma has decided to opt for riches in Kazakhstan’s football signing a deal in the European country, OJ OPTSForoyaa Sport can report.

The wing midfielder joined the club on free transfer following expiry of his deal with Icelandic second tier Thróttur Reykjavík. whom he helped guide to promotion to Iceland’s Premier league.

However the forward decided against continuing inexplicably leaving at end of the previous campaign having won the second division title, his first gong since turning professional in 2008.

The 26-year-old opted for change of scenery and his search landed him at Kzylzhar SK, a second division club in Kazakhstan.

Though details of the contract –signed first of March – are undisclosed, this publication understands the former Norwich City man is expected to stay with his new club until at least end of the new season.

Conclusion of the transfer means OJ becomes the first Gambian to play in the Kazakhstan second tier but the third to play in the Central Asian country after striker Momodou Ceesay and midfielder Ebrima Sohna.

Koroma is beginning to find path for his career having battled series of injuries since start of his footballing career.

He first turned professional following his signing by gaffer Harry Rednapp making him the first Gambian to sign for a club in the English Premier League. A stay though with the Pompey side proved a short one after he was released in 2010 before going to Denmark for a trial with Brondby.
